ITEC 640 Assignment 1 (UMUC)
Regional Aviation Sustainment Maintenance – West Region (RASM-W)
Introduction
My organization is Regional Aviation Sustainment Maintenance–West Region (RASM-W). RASM-W is a CH-47 Chinook, UH-60 Blackhawk, and AH-64 Apache helicopter maintenance company. In April 2013, Army Field Maintenance (AFM) awarded RASM-W a five-year contract worth $388.5 million, if all options are exercised, to serve the U.S. Army and its allies.
The helicopter maintenance services are performed at Fort Hood, Fort Bliss, Fort Riley, and Temple, Texas. RASM-W’s services include: the Reset program and depot-level repairs on rotary wing aircraft and government-furnished property or equipment. The AFM contract created the Reset program for restoration maintenance after aircraft deployment. The Reset program involves cleaning the aircraft to remove contamination from radiation and foreign objects, the inspection of the airframe and its components, and the repair and replacement of damaged components. In addition, maintenance support may be provided for transient and rotary units, aircraft participating in military joint training exercises, military mobilization and pre-mobilization aircraft, and approved foreign military sales (FMS) cases.
